I am a musician, a composer mostly. I am happy to be useful on many projects, sometimes playing instruments, sometimes just pushing buttons and producing records, sometimes teaching things, always learning.
I was born in Brasília, the new capital of Brazil, where I grew up. Now I live in New York City. My professional career started with the band Tonton Macoute, then I went on to work as a record producer in Rio de Janeiro, where I lived for a while and made many friends. There I had a chance to work and play with some of the best musicians in the country, I learned a lot from each of them.
I moved to Philadelphia, where I polished my recording skills before I had my own production studio in New York. In all these places I was really lucky to work with some wonderful artists. During this time I’ve been also writing soundtracks for contemporary dance, film, TV, theater and circus.
I have also released four solo albums of Brazilian popular music and an opera: Tamanduá (The Anteater). Recently I’ve been writing mostly chamber music and wrapping up my new opera: “Plastic Flowers”.
You can find me performing with the Malagueta Trio. Come by and say hi.
